Study: Oat-derived ß-Glucan Significantly Improves HDLC and Diminishes LDLC and Non-HDL Cholesterol in Overweight Individuals with Mild Hypercholestrolemia

Summary:  38 overweight men with high cholesterol were split equally placed on an AHA step II diet with either 6g of fiber from wheat bread or 6g ß- glucan from Nutrim® baked into bread.  They were also instructed to walk for 60 minutes a day.  At the end of 8 weeks the subjects had blood draws that were then compared to their initial blood work.  The Nutrim® group saw significant improvement in lipid profile and body weight without any adverse effects.
